Set in 1959, the film follows Vivian Bell (Helen Shaver), a buttoned-up Columbia University professor who travels to Reno, Nevada, for a quickie divorce. While awaiting her decree at a guest ranch, she experiences a profound sexual and emotional awakening after falling in love with a confident, free-spirited young woman named Cay (Patricia Charbonneau). The film was directed by Donna Deitch. (R)
